Melissa and Kaiya have been tag teaming running Henna at dock diving events this summer. This is Kaiya's first year compeition with her and it is so fun to watch the two of them grow together as a team! Pier Pups has added a junior division to try to encourage more kids to get out and get involved with their canine friends, so Kai is now competing in the junior division. Kaiya is hoping more junior handlers will start to join in the fun for some added competition for her! But so far, both teams are fairing pretty well taking home multiple blue ribbons this year so far! Check us out at the WI state fair next!
Kallie and Nala, sisters from the same litter out of our main matriarch Snickers, celebrated their 14th birthday on April 23rd! They are both still doing great and we hope to have them around for a couple more years! Happy Birthday girls!
We received this letter in the mail the other day and we just wanted to share it. It made our hearts swell with joy to know we helped bring this dog into this world and were able to give this family a wonderful companion! May you RIP McKenzie and thank you Hoffman Family for sharing this story with us!
Crappy rainy day down at Fromm pet fest today but Henna and I braved the rain to try out long dock jumping today, our second time on a long dock. We came out with guns blazing and got our new pb jump of 24'2". This jump placed us into the elite division; there were 4 dogs in the elite division for finals; MoJo, Henna, Ripley and Phoenix. Our first jump was 23'1", at the end of round 1 we were sitting in 3rd place. Our second jump was a 23'8" jump, which tied the top dog, Phoenix. The tie breaker was the other jump we each did and Henna had a longer second jump so her and I just barely escaped defending our title to take home first place at the dock competition today! I'm liking this long dock stuff.... Henna, Melissa and Kaiya spent the afternoon at LC Pet Fest competing in a Pier Pups dock event. Henna jumped in two qualifying heats placing Second and First with jumps over 18'. In the finals, Henna found that little extra umph to take her jumps to 20'9" but in the end it wasn't enough to beat Phoenix, who pulled out an awesome 21'3" jump to take the blue ribbon, so Henna took home second place overall. It was a great day, a bit scary at times with the weather but the rain did hold off and we had a wonderful afternoon! Once again Melissa and Henna could be found on the dock, this time at the Fromm Pet Fest which was held at the Summerfest Grounds in Milwaukee. In our prelim jump, Henna jumped a 19'6" which was enough for 2nd place and earned us a spot in the finals. In the finals Henna pulled off the win with a jump of 19'9"! This was one of the bigger Pier Pups events we had attended this summer, about 16 dogs in each wave and the same amount in the finals! This event concludes our jumping season with them for the 2014 year, we look forward to doing more jumps with them and to try out our hand (or paws) at Dock Dogs next year! Henna and Melissa travelled to Fond du Lac this past weekend to compete in the Pier Pups competition at Walleye Weekend. Henna jumped 19' in the qualifiers, which was good enough to qualify them for the pro division finals. In the finals her best jump was 19' as well which was good enough to secure 1st place! |
